Jan Stills' "Weimar Lugers"
Is there a reason Jan Stills is longer publishing "Weimar Lugers" ? Or any other of his books for that matter. I understand his books include a wealth of information, but I have searched the internet in vain to find a copy.
Thanks, Don |
Don, its not as simple as you make it sound. To publish books, a bunch of money has to be put up; those $250 Still's books isn't going to Jan but folks who bought his books.
His latest book is Central Powers, you can see the review of it here on the forum, and is still available from Jan. I saw Imperial Lugers, Weimar Lugers and Third Reich Lugers at the SOS for $300 each. I have my own copies, so did not buy them. ed |
I sent Jan an email a while back asking if he was going to republish Axis Pistols some time but never got a reply. I think there is a market for them if he does.

I seriously doubt publishing monographs on guns being a way to make money. At least, not an effective way. Printing out a PDF book of a few hundred pages on computer, paper + ink easily costs $50+ per copy, not including binding yet, let alone the distribution cost.
Those books were printed on high quality thick paper, beautifully bound under hard cover..... and two-digit retail price...... Does that sound like a good way to make money?? You say "no, it's not two-digit price. It's $200 or $300". DWM only made a few Reich Marks per gun, but those DWM guns are commonly listed above $1000 today. The profit does not go into DWM's pocket. Probably publishing a book on "Effective Home Defense by Glock" can make more. Market is bigger :) |
Sometimes I really hate this machine, especially when it won't help me! Sorry to ask but, i know there is a post on suffix's, identification of etc, but i can't seem to find it. Can anyone direct me where to look?
Ferley |
Hi Ferley, It's on the "other" forum, the one that Jan started on Gunboards. You'll find it on a sticky under Mauser Lugers. Regards, Norm

Actually, it is on this forum also and isn't restricted to Mausers. Look at the side bar and click on Technical Information.
