New luger owner

Hello, recently purchased my first luger which I believe to be a BYF 42 type. All matching parts except magazine. I do have a question about the number and letter, which is an "I" followed by serial # 9958( I've included a picture of the letter from the tech. info section). When were the "I" series of guns in production? Any other unique things about the "I" series of guns? I would attach pictures but I currently dont have access to a camera( from what I've seen you guys really like pictures!) Thanks!
