Odd 1917 Erfurt?
Hi all,
Stopped in the local gun emporium today and they had a 1917 Erfurt. SN 2886 (I couldn't read the letter). All matching except correct mag. Wanted $1500. I looked at it and saw some odd things: 1. The barrel was notably grayer in color than the "normally" blued receiver and frame, but did not look like an obvvious force-match; and 2. The Erfurt word and crown logo appeared to be only lightly stamped, and the outside part of the E was missing. Like it was lightly stamped or buffed-down. Was not an obvious reblue however, looked legit. Any comments? Did Erfurt produce "dual tone" pistols like you see with P.38s? Despite the fact that I would really like to add an Erfurt to the collection, I'm not inclined to buy this one, but any comment on the price would be enlightening. Thanks. Bob |

Though owner's permission, it's OK to take pictures. Frankly tell him "I need pictures so I can consult others' opinion". Most owners will be cooperative. Some do say no. In that case, the gun does not belong to you and let it go.

Tell the shopkeeper you need to show the pics to your wife...lmao... :D

Most wives don't like those things. My spouse dragged me to a skiing place in NH, I sit there having nothing to do. Stayed in house for a few days and finally it's over. At the end, I could not control asking "For coming here, do they pay us money? Really suffering". But she likes it.
