WWI luger to WWII?

Dear Experts

Is it possible that a WWI Luger with all the proper imperial markings could have also served in WWII without getting any additional Weimar or Nazi era marks or proofs?

Is it possible for a Luger to wind up in VOPO service without any evidence that it had been first in Russian hands (dip refinish or X's)?

Thanks,
Jeff

First question....yes, I do have a 1908 with no other Weimar or Nazi proofs but a police sear safety....as to #2 I believe so.....

First question: yes.
Second question: doubtful. The DDR was provided with guns by the Russians. Of course there is the off chance that a pistol migrated from one owner to another during the denazification process of the police and armed forces, but it would be a very slim chance indeed.

Apart from that, a treaty between the allies (US, UK, France, Russia) required the clear marking of guns issued to German officials as 'being issued by the allies'. Sadly the treaty does not disclose what this marking should look like..
