My first Luger - Questions
Hello All, New here- Always wanted a Luger & finally got one today. Been reading up on them. But wanted to see if anyone had some input on this one. She's a 1915 DWM, all matching serial 905 no suffix. Here's a few pic's - any info is appreciated. Trying to find out what the Crown B on Sideplate is.

Saw this last night. But no idea what C/B is on the side plate.
Supposed being a replaced part. Erfurt made Luger has C/letter, but their side cover (coming with the gun) also carries partial s/n. So what's this, could it be a field replacement from Erfurt or Spandau made spare side plate? If that's true, what was inspected by C/B before he stamped this spare part? Without doc, that's a myth. |
Could be that it's tested with a heavier load than standard. But the sideplate would be a wierd place for such a mark..?
They sure had some neat looking proofmarks:) |
I have a crown/B on a breech block from 1921 Army. An Erfurt proofed piece in a DWM pistol...???

Thanks for the responses. Kinda strange if it's a replacement. This one was a Vet. bring-back in holster. When I took it down it still had grease or cosmoline in it & the last round fired out of it left a headstamp impression with three Imperial markings. This leads me to believe it is untouched since WWI. So the sideplate was probably put on it during the war. Here's a Pic of holster Marked with a Crowned L. Does anyone know what this mark is.
