Need some help.

I am new here and thanks in advance for any help. I bought my 4th luger this weekend and started thinking I should try to learn a few things. Is there a univeraly reciognized book to teach me a think or two about these fine weapons?

WOW! where to begin? What era are you most interested in? I feel that Jan Still's books are the best. His Central Powers Pistols is still available, I think, for around $100. This is WWI pistols. There is a new edition of the Third Reich Lugers in the works.

Geez, I don't know. I had guessed there was a general Luger bible. I have a 1917 artilery, a 1937 S/42 a 1921 civilian with police markings. I also have a missmatched shooter with 6' barreled 1941 upper.
I would like to know what the proof marks mean, and I would like to ad a navy gun to my collection without getting screwed.

"Lugers at Random" by Charles Kenyon Jr. would be a good general book.

also, read the FAQ, read through the new collector area, etc.

there were lugers made over 45 years (pre WW2), then made later by parts etc.... by numerous manufacturers...
