wondering how everyone stores their c&r collections
 

Ok, so i got my C&R license a while back and ive noticed that my 30 gun safe may just be insufficient for 45 or so guns and the valuable matching accessories. so i was wondering how everyone stores their guns with the accessories that go with them. I mean, i was keeping the pistols in their boxes with the accessories that go with them, (original holsters, extra mags, cleaning rods, tool kits, oilers etc) but, i decided against that given much research has deemed guns in cardboard boxes a bad idea. even with plenty of desiccant in the safe. plus, this way they take up alot of space. i had the idea of putting all of the pistols all nice and lined up on a pistol rack and rifles on a rotating rack on the bottom of the safe and keeping the accessories in a separate cabinet. but i dont quite like the inconvenience when showing my collection to other collectors (ie: ya so heres my all matching original "xxx" and, i do have the original motorcycle scabbard and bayonet and cleaning kit that go with it but i cant find it right now, i think its under those holsters and slings somewhere.") anyways, how do you all store your collections? it would be nice to keep everything together, and possibly on display in a secure bunkerish room, but thats not in the cards yet for me. anyones input is always appreciated. and if you got pictures of your collections, im sure everyone and have the appreciation for that here.

Yeah. I'm interested in this too! This addiction is getting larger. Why... I might have to sell some Garands or something...

tell me about it. it started with me building a colt 1911 from parts of an actually ww2 blown up gun, onto a new frame. and from there it turned into building a luger, buying a luger, then buying p38s, nagant m1985, cz52s, broom handles, k98s garands yadda yadda. the past year has gone from 8 guns, to 43 (a bit addicted i admit, but so many have fallen into my lap for literally pennies (or the occasional "i have this old pistol my dad got from a vietcong in nam and i hear you like that kinda thing, i also here your handy. i do need a deck built...) anyways, i cant get anymore unless i know a good way to keep them all. especially because i happen to find them with all the accoutrement that they were issued to soldiers with. so a good way to store it all, is definitely in order. one day i plan on having a nice room with a vault door, and everything can hang up on the walls and on lit up white shelves like in the movies or something

More safes,bigger safes......soon you will be a collector of safes.

all depends on how secure the area you live in is?

Me, personally I display a few, with most locked up in a safe.

Displaying is what I like to do, but difficult when you might get them stolen?

6x8 walk in vault.......room for one more always.....like tonight I got a PPK 380 in stainless, won't take up much room...............

Always keep a few (cheap ones) out in the open, easy to get to, so they think they found what they heard rumors about.

Whew! Please consider throwing some out so we can have a chance to add a few into the half empty safe.

I also have a 6X8 foot walk in vault. I built it myself, and built in rifle racks and use book shelves for pistols. The only tough problem I have is keeping the temperature and humidity at the proper levels. This is a MUST if you have a vault. If it's not right, your guns could corrode, and your holsters can rot! VERY important!

Agree. I keep a few handy for viewing and, yes, fondling. But the firing pins are somewhere else.

I too am getting tired of accumulating new safes and have considered building a walk-in vault. However, a good quality safe door costs thousands. Anybody know of a reasonable priced safe door?
