DWM Commercial Luger Info
9 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I have had my DWM commercial Luger for quite some time now. It was given to me by my father and to him by my great grandfather. My great grandfather fought in WWI, and was a translator and interrogator. He said that he got this Luger from an officer who he was interrogating. The serial number is 4204 k. It has the crown/n proofs, and has a Germany stamp on the front of the frame. I would like to know approximately when this luger was made, if that information could be found. Thanks, WestPoint18A |
Forgot to mention that it is chambered for the 7.65x21mm (.30 Luger) round and the magazine has a plain wood bottom.

Charles,
Welcome to the forum! Nice looking Alphabet Commercial Luger. According to Jan Still's Weimar Lugers These commercial Lugers were manufactured starting in 1921. The Germany mark is a export stamp. It's not possible that this gun was obtained during WWI since it wasn't made until after the war. Tom |
According to Still's, Weimar and Early Lugers, the k series was made last part of 1921, to the first half of 1922. Serial no. 4204 was probably very early 1922.

Thanks for the information!

Your Luger was most probably purchased from a gun shop or a hardware store in the United States during the 1920s.

To expand on Aaron's post a bit, the GERMANY stamp on the front of the frame was applied to Lugers intended for export to the USA, in compliance with U.S. tariff regulations.
