Help with curious Luger...?

I have tripped across the following Luger - sorry no photos at this time.

1918 chamber date, byf toggle , serial # 8381 and 81 on most small parts.

matching magazine is 8381 (2nd mag) with 2.

The toggle has two sets of digits - 81 and then 94 with a line struck through it.

A second 94 appears below the 1918 chamber date .

Crown N and 753 stamped on underside of barrel.

So it appears to be a Nazi era byf frame and toggle with a
1918 receiver and barrel...?

Vet bring back according to family.
Is this some kind of reissue gun or armorer's rework...?

Thanks,
Joe V.

It's a VoPo.

East-German rework with replacement barrel that was proofed in the DDR.
Small parts that don't match usually have their numbers X-out. The receiver is numbered to match the frame and the magazines are probably 2/1001 marked on the spine.

753 refers to the refurbishing date: july 1953.

Info on VoPo

Thanks so much for the correct info.
What is a fair price for this variation....?
Again condition unknown until I examine it in person...in a few days.

Joe, A fair price depends on so many things...Metal finish, bore condition, type of grips, magazine.... will it actually shoot with no problems..on and on. Most shooters can demand a minimum of $450. Many average $700-800 and a very nice one can bring $1000+.

Yours sounds like it would be between $450-600. Again, depending on what you see when you get there. I wouldn't get too deep in one like this. A collector pistol is often not that much more than a junk shooter.
