Whats the obvious things wrong?


I figure the seller isn't a member, or they'd be a bit more correct...

In the book Stalin's Keys To Victory, the author (Walter Dunn Jr) mentioned a phrase "planned obsolescence", by this phrase, Soviet could make 109,815 tanks and SUs during the Great Patriotic War. So, it's a philosophy and stratege when number matters. For gun collecting, maybe "planned obsolescence" could apply under certain consideration.

Regarding the gun, I would say the description being OK except "but nicely done". I would believe that's subjective and very elastic.

Don't know the market. Is the starting price for this condition OK?

I'm pretty new at this, but will take a stab... Seller claims all matching, yet there's no #'s on anything visible.
No "BuG" or other proof or acceptance markings .
Doesn't bother to give or photograph the ser#.
Parts not strawed- but he does say possibly a reblue- which it is.
And although nothing wrong, I'm supposing the safety position is "up" on this pistol?

Well, One thing I notice is the lack of strawing on this pistol, I dont think the toggle should be blank I would say its supposed to DWM logo, Just my amateur observations

Blank toggle blued trigger, safety lever,takedown lever.

Blank toggle.
Buffed and polished.
Salt blued. Should be rust blued with strawed small parts.
The top of the grip safety (safety bar) should be 'in the white'
The sideplate is from a later model.

BINGO, wayne8661, CRC and Mike, all DWM's (except for the 1930 era when a few thousand were made) had DWM on them. So the comment about them not having it until 1901, that is just weird....

Aside from the total incorrect reblue, neither barrel is original and correct for the gun. The barrel that is on the gun has had the flange almost completely machined away. Looks like it might be a short receiver barrel that has had the threaded portion lengthened by cutting back the flange. Too bad, it is a fairly early piece with a Type II safety.

I know nothing about the American Eagle Lugers...but E Pluribus Unum on a Luger??? The Great Seal??? I thought the Germans put a generic eagle motif on the chamber... :confused:

I read it wrong. It starts at $100, not $2500. The reserve is unknown, probably around $2k. If I had $2k to spend, I would try the G Date (not mine, don't know the seller either).
