Trying to get some information about this particular luger. The serial # is 2490. I have 3 clips ,one being the original. One clip has a wooden bottom. I have the holster with the tool inside. Would like to get some info about the gun and would like to get info on how to offer it for sale. Any help would be great. As this is my first post I hope This is the right place to pose these questions.

You may list the gun for sale here on the forum with its selling price.
I have sent you a private message.

Dave...this forum has members with so much knowledge that they will give you a pretty good estimate of the value. I am in the market for a matching one but would only feel comfortable after the experts have spoken. You may have a piece that is rare based on factors I do not have the expertise to tell. If you decide to sell, please keep me in mind. The guys here in this forum know their stuff. I am sure that you will be getting answers soon. Scott

You have an early (strawed parts)1937 Mauser manufactured military luger. From what I see in pics, looks all matching external parts. We would need to see pics of internal parts(they should have last 2 digits of serial# stamped on them) to verify all matched. Would need better photos of bottom of mags to say more on them except 2 AL bottomd ones seem correct era. Wood bottom is from earlier era luger, WWI or commercial model. Again pics of bottom needed. Holster is same, need pics of proofing on back to say anything. From what you did show us, looks like a pretty decent set. Show us some more detailed pictures. John

I will sit own later to take pictures of the gun. Only info I have on he gun is that the person I used o work with in my job got it from his father who got it during WWII . Sounds corny but he has no reason to lie and I only paid $800 for it. Thought that was reasonable considering the condition and history.

Dave,
If you decide to sell the gun I would be interested.

Great gun! Military Luger with matching magazine demands some premium in the past. Not sure about today's situation.

Dave,
If the mag is matching, the S# is 2490r. The 'r' suffix is part of the S#. You will find it under the S# on the front of the frame.
The remaining parts not shown in your pics which should have matching numbers are; frame (S# w/suffix), barrel (S# w/o suffix).
Parts with last two digits; hold open, firing pin, thumb safety, safety bar, rear toggle, grips, and breech block.

Checked the gun this morning and it appears that all the parts either bare a 2490, 2490r, or a 90 on them. the only parts that do not have those would be the grips but some posts state that this run of guns may or maynot be consistent with numbering the grips. Is that true? I have posted pictures of the grips and also of the serial # of the remaining clips. One being a wooden back. Thanks to all in helping me value the gun. Will sell the gun at a fair price as soon as I can get a idea of its fair value. Thanks David

PS . Selling the gun to fund my vette project.....

Love those mid year Vettes Dave! Some years ago when I had Corvette fever I came close to buying a restored '65 365HP numbers matching roadster. Wish I had the garage space for it... would have been a good investment.
