Barrel cleaning foam
Is the use of barrel cleaning foam recommended for a Luger?
It might be a dumb question, but I won't harm my baby in any way. |
I'm a new guy here, not very knowledgeable, and I'm from the boondocks...What is Barrel Cleaning Foam, and who makes it??? How do you use it??? Is it a spray-on, or do you let the barrel soak in it???

It's made by "GUNSLICK Pro"
the name of the product is "Foaming Bore Cleaner". You just spray it into the barrel, let it soak for 13-30 minutes, then clean it out. They claim it cleans out copper and powder residue effortlessly. I'm scared those chemicals could maybe harm the outer surface of the luger. |

I don't have any experience with this stuff. But I ruined a Danish VAR barrel on an M1 Garand, with that reverse electoplate barrel cleaner. Doesn't take much effort to push a patch or a brush through a pistol barrel.

I have used a foam barrel cleaner for years with no problems. Spray it into the bore from the firing chamber end and allow to set for 15 to 30 minutes.
Putting a clean patch down the bore picks up blue and black stains. The blue is copper, while the black is carbon. Clean patch the bore until no more blue or black then oil. I hope you have the same expierence. I have not heard or read of any damage using the foaming bore cleaner. |
Additionally, I place a clean rag into the firing chamber area to protect those parts while using the foaming bore cleaner.

I have been using the foaming bore clean by Breakfree for awhile. Seems to work pretty good.Easy to use and no damage to the bore. I think chemically it is similar to oven cleaner. Make sure after you use it to wipe down the bore with some oil,as it has no preservative in it. Also keep it away from bluing.
My personal favorite bore cleaning method is a bore snake. Quick, easy to use, works great and you get some exercise! Bob |
Thank you all !
For your advise, I appreciate it:thumbup:
