Is byf more expansive than 42 universal on the market?
 

Or just from this seller, and these particular two instances?

What does 3rd Reich Lugers say for approiximate numbers made of each?


I would say a byf is worth more than a 1941 42; but less of them made I think.

I usually check on-line and see what has sold at gunbroker to judge if I am hiugh or low on a gun; I only look at sales that have sold, I don't even consider asking price unless it is a no reserve auction.

Thanks Ed. I just looked up the Red Book, page 66. 42 41 is actually pretty rare, only 7,000 were made, 42 change to byf in Feb of 1941, and byf 41's production volume was 126,000.

So, there are lots of emotional factors here. Or, most byf's were captured by Russian and reblued and not counted anymore?

Ed, to someone who is not a "nazi" collector but a Luger collector a 1941 42 code is worth a hell of a lot more money than a byf.

A little bit surprise. From other listed items of this seller -- 1906, Swiss, DWM, Erfurt, even with an Interarm CC!! More like a Luger oriented guy who also has a few "Nazi" guns. Probably that byf came to him high.

Alvin, while I might disagree with the quoted production numbers, I would say the 41 Code 42 Lugers were only produced in about one month. So the ratio is 1 in 12 versus 41 byf 11 in 12.

Geroge is absolutely correct. In the same condition, the 41 Code 42 is a much greater value than the 41 byf.
