Luger Age
Gentlemen,
I am new to the forum. I have been looking for a Luger most of my life. I'm 38 soon to be 39 and I remember my father saying one day that the only pistol that he ever actually wanted to buy was a Luger. Well, 21 years after his passing I found one with byf 41 with all matching numbers. Is there any way to tell how old it is? and if so could I please have some help? |
Tom, welcome to the forum.
You already have the answer in front of you ;) byf = Mauser 41 = 1941 A month can be "estimated" and that is the best we could do.... |
The date of this pistol's manufacture should be stamped above the chamber area.
|
I thought that is what it would be, but I had read so much about these pistols yesterday that I was going nuts and I kept hearing more and more about the byf 42. So when mine said 41 I started getting curious/stupid.....thanks for the welcome aboard and the help with the date.

Tom, It's hard to know when you don't know. Hang around awhile and learn along with me. Lewis

Ed, alanint and Lewis,
Thank you for the warm welcome into the fold so to speak. Many sites are just filled with arogant people who want to show off more than share knowledge of this type. Take care hope to hear from you all soon. |
