Two near mint 1900
 

Hello! After a lot of gauges and accessories, some "real stuff". I would like to share with you my two 1900s. Both are virtually mint. One is in 1700 s.n. range and one in 1800.
They are identical, but one (on the bottom) has the rear sight "U" modified, the Swiss black extractor, a very thin shooters trigger spring and an unusually high front sight. Prepared for the range, indeed, but not used too much I would say...The bore has almost no wear.
The other lady, as far as I can see, it is just as it was when left the DWM on its way to Bern in 1901-1902. Two real beauties!

Here a question that I should never ask? In todays market and in comprable condition, how much would one of these go for?? For now I can only really on pictures. Reminds me when I was younger!!

If you are asking about the gun in the photo you posted, it is a 1898 prototype, serial number 6 and is quite literally priceless. It is roughly in the same category as the .45 Luger that recently sold for just under $500K.

Boy You can spot them. I regret to say I lack the privalege to own one! Are they as accurate as a Swiss time piece?

If you throw it at the target, yes :D

(just kidding, the Swiss Parabellums are extremely accurate)

Why is it seems that German Lugers gain more attention than lugers manufactured elsewhere? I could be wrong?

If they built the Ford Mustang in Korea, it wouldn't be the old Mustang anymore, now, would it? :)

Yes, Mauser was bombed twice during WW2 and even attacked during WW1. The WW1 airplane attack was a bit useless, during the 1st WW2 strike they missed the factory and accidentally bombed the town. During the 2nd strike, the Mauser power house and part of the old office building was hit.

DWM were never attacked nor hit as far as I know.

Thank for your insight. Gramps from who I bought my 1937 Kreighoff owns every year up until and including 1945. Obvously the bombing didn't interupt manufacture. There are so fine! No shooting for this cutie!

I believe those Swiss 1900 models are the nicest looking of all the Lugers they have a certain Elegance that others lack...:cheers:
