Really sorry for your loss. It is hard not to have your buddy anymore, and it never gets easier no matter how many pets have gone before.

FN, it is always sad, we have lost them at a young age too, and it never gets easier.

Norm -

I've owned Dobes since 1973, and only one has made it to 10 yrs 11 months...the rest (13 IIRC) all passed on right about 10 yrs...All good dogs; loyal, friendly, protective, and highly intelligent (more so than me!)...and all sorely missed...

I have one now, a Rescue, as well as a Weimaraner rescue, and it always brings a smile to see them just the way they are right this minute...The Dobe curled up on the couch, with the Weim sprawled on top of him...

I feel your pain...but when God closes one door, he opens another...Somewhere out there, right now, is another Dobe looking for a good home...

I know how you must feel. We have walked that road before, and yes it is heartbreaking. It's hard to lose a pet and friend that has been with you so long.

My condolences also. As a Dobe lover and owner I have lost two in the last few years. They are special dog friends and will always be in your heart as they are in mine.

Over the last month we have lost two cats. One was the wife's favorite. She is beside herself.

We lost one of our dogs not too long ago as well.

It's really hard. Kids are still copeing.

From one pet lover to another my condolences.

Sorry to hear about your losing a good friend and member of the family. My buddy's getting up there and I'm dreading the day.

If you want to know what unfailing love is? Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of the car for an hour. Which one is happy to see you when you open it?

Norm,
My sincere condolences. Last year our 9 year old Rotty, Tucker crossed the Rainbow bridge, in August. His Partner, Ruby Magnolia, (5 year old Rotty girl) was devastated. We had our equine vet come to the farm to help Tucker cross the bridge. Tuckerman was the 4th Rotty that we have rescued and a handsome lad he was. We had learned that having the surviving partner there when one crosses the bridge helps the survivor. Not so, for weeks Maggie was constantly looking for Tucker, knowing he would come back. We rescued another pal for her, Rowdy, a 5 year old that was returned to the breeder by the owner due to a divorce. Totally different buddy, but a buddy he is. They love each other.

On October 13 we learned that Maggie has an inoperable tumor on her lower jaw. We are keeping her comfortable on meds and God bless her, she is still a little piss ant. We had scheduled our horse vet to come over last Wednesday to help Maggie across the bridge. Talked to the vet and decided that as long as Maggie is happy and not suffering she will be with us.

****, I am thinking about naming this place the rainbow bridge farm. We have a 25 year old standard bred that might not make it through the winter. Sorry for the long post. I think you understand Brother. Remember there is a new pal out there waiting to give you it's love.
Best to you,
Pitsword

Sorry for you loss. I lost both of these two guys in one year. I wa told that the large chested German breeds ar eprone to heart arrytmias as they age. Lost one to an unknown cause, I assume arrythmia, the other grieved until his epilepsy got the best of them.

I have another, best cure I know

my condolences

I am sorry to learn about your loss. A dog can be a fine , loyal companion. My German Shepherd, Cora, died a few years ago.
After her death, it was a quiet home. I still miss her.

FNorm,
Truly sorry to hear this news.

FNorm,
Our six tear old Rotty girl, Ruby Magnolia, crossed the rainbow bridge about an hour ago. Nice thing about email is that tears don't stain the ink. A whole lot on the keyboard right now. Had our equine vet come to the house for Maggie so that her pal Rowdy could be with her when she crossed. We were blessed to have her for a few days more than we thought possible. Sure leaves a big hole in the family.

Heinz, those were beautiful pals that you lost. Nice to know that there are a few of us left that still have compassion for our friends that give so much and ask so little. Best to all,
pitsword
