I tried in its earlier stage, but too low to be mentioned. Best conditioned Mauser Pocket that I've seen.

This pistol is PRECISELY why I am not surprised or overly suspicious when 99%+ Lugers turn up.

There actually were people who purchased or were given guns, (those were the good old days when a pistol was not an unusual gift) and never took them out of the box much, only to be discovered by decendants or others decades later...

Great looking pistol. The manual was printed in 1928, if anyone cares :)

Missed this one because I remembered the end date wrong. Could not bid this high anyway, so not much regret. Pistols are not unlike women, pretty or not pretty does matter a little bit for some men.

Regarding the condition. Here is an analog. Feudalism Asian Emperors usually had a few hundred concubines. It's really a burden for His Majesty sleeping with all those women, so it was comon that many of them did not even see the Emperor in their lifetime. So, this Mauser Pocket played a unfortunate concubine's role, and the owner was the Emperor -- when he had many guns, it's a burden to carry all of them to the range.

Very profound!

Or it could have been given as a gift to a women who stored it on the top shelf of her closet and forgot about it. She passed on and the relatives found it when they where going thru her belongings.

Thats how I got my Baby Hammerless.

Is that price correct?
I couldn't imagine that these little pistols attract so many bidders, even if we consider it condition, box, etc...

I'm surprised!

Douglas.

I bid $1400 and stayed on the top for a few days. The best I can do in my mind was $1500. So I did not feel that I missed it. Probably it will be the best one that I can meet in my lifetime. Time will tell.
