Luger Info?

The following is a Luger I recently inherited from my Grandfather. He got it from a bombed out store during WWII. He would get it out many times for me to hold (But never shoot) and I have very fond memories of our times talking about the war.

I found this sight a few months back and have just trolled around learning from the many great articles on this site.

I have taken the gun completely apart and all the #s match, it was made in 1918 but that is about all I know and further info would be greatly appreciated.
I also couldn't stand it and have shot 4 clips through it. It shoot great and I have been hitting all the gun shows looking for a shooter.

Its a 1918 erfurt that went into police service at some point, having a sera safety and a whats left of a magazine safety.

The holster is also a police holster.

Does it match? (the holster, is it marked?)

Very nice looking police luger; any marks on the grip strap?

Thanks Edward,

The holster is pretty rough, one of the belt loops is broke and both have been repaired at some time. The only markings I have been able to find are on the back a crown (Looks like the one above the "Erfurt") with what looks like an "I" or a "T" under it.

Thanks again

actually, holster doesn't look too bad. It protected your luger, and as you can see I like bring back stories!

Yeah the stories are the only thing better than the guns. I have a few guns handed down from family and they are my favorites and my 2 bring homes are the best. I thought this would be my only one but 2 years ago during Christmas I had a distant cousin call me out of the blue, he wondered if I was home because he had something for me. A couple hours later he stopped by with a 6.5mm Jap Rifle another Grandfather had brought home from the war. They had made him remove the mag and follower and cut off the bayonet lug. My Grandfather (Not very gun savvy) thought it would not work so he gave it to my cousin, who then went to a gun show and bought a magazine and had used it for groundhogs ever since. Made my Christmas to say the least.

An answer to you previous question there are no markings on the grip strap.

Lockhart

P.S. your book is now on my Christmas wish list!!

I thought that I had made a real find. I have an Erfurt Luger with the sn 99xx with a consecutive number to your last 2 but I believe on closer look that yours is 98xx whereas mine is 99xx.
All matching but it is in 30 Cal Luger which I think is incorrect.
