G Date P08 Info
 

Greetings:

I'm not that familiar with Lugers and need some help. I acquired this G Date P08 about 30 years ago (S/N 8092d). There are no import marks and it appears to be the original finish. The fit and finish of the metal on the interior appears to be like new The fit of the action is very tight tolerances. Bore is like new. Everything matches except for the black plastic bottomed clip. I also didn't see any numbers on the stocks. Can any one tell me about this pistol and its approximate value? I've attached photos.

Military issued Luger, made by Mauser in 1935. Due to the three Eagle over 63 acceptance stamps in your last photo, it is a subvariation 2. Different stamps were used in subvariation 1.

The mag appears to be a post war commerical model.

Others on this board could give a better estimate of it's value.

Hi Carl, nice G-Date!! Congratulations. It was completed about September 1935. I agree with Eric, it's the 6th Variation.

It's difficult to give you a value for your Luger, but depending on the finish condition, I would say $1500, give or take $500.

Joe, your information was found in Third Reich Lugers by Jan Still. He identified two variations; The first without Waffenamt (WaA) Marks of DE/63 and the second with WaA Marks DE/63. Since the completion of that book, we agree in the six variation identification.

You are correct, the mag is post war and further, it's value is about $30.
