Luger Optic?

I was speaking with an acquaintance today and he made mention of a small scope that fit on either an Artillery model or Navy model- he wasn't sure which. He said the scope was for range-firing a phosphorous round for military units . He said this optic came in a small oval tin can and fit on the barrel of one of these pistols.
Anyone ever heard of this ? I have tried the search feature on this sight but came up empty handed.
Does he know what he is talking about?
He is a genius on M-1 Garands and carbies, but I'm not so sure on Lugers.

I recall seeing a photo of an LPO8 luger in one of the books, with a ZF41 (1&1/2 power) long eye relief scope, custom mounted in the rear sight dove tail. TH

These scopes were made by a German gunsmith in the 70s and 80s, iirc.

There were some tests with a night sight for the LP08, but that was another ball game.

This would have been used during WWII, according to the source. Anyway, if none of you guys have ever heard of this, I am quite reluctant to believe this fellow. I hold high regard to the opinions of this forum.

I know of no telescopic sight for the Luger used in WWI or WWII. I found a photo of the ZF41 scope adaptation mentioned by Lugerdoc and Vlim on the web. The rare Sudicatis radium night sight for the LP08 and Gew98 was produced in 1917 in limited amounts but I do not know if they ever actually saw any combat time.

Thanks for posting, Ron. That's interesting. Maybe the fellow got part of his story right.
