newbie G date question
I finished my Erfurt collection last week with a nice 1914 and am now ready to start with the Axis era. I would like to start looking for a G date but cant figure out from the references here what the difference is between a "G" date , P code , S/42, and K date are. Looking for a copy of Axis Pistols but until then I need some basic info. Also, what are the correct period mags for G date Lugers. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. Cheers!

You finished your Erfurts?!?!?! Lucky guy!
Yeah, Ya need a copy of Third Reich. I understand there will soon be an updated edition. FN |
FNorm... Just the 4" barrelled. An all matching, non-boosted Erfurt Arty is becoming rather a pipe dream. I always liked your 1914. Mine isn't as nice as yours but until I find one better...
|
If you mean a Krieghoff P code, well, its not the same as you called the others....
I assume you have other books? Kenyon, Walter, any of Jan Still's? No offense, but what differences are you talking about? To go into detail would require the above books ;) and a search of some of the above would show you much; Mauser production K date G date 1936 1937 1938 1939 1940 1941 and all of those have many variations..... |
"G date" doesn't search on the site and I'm trying to determine what to look for. Inspection marks, proofs, what mags are period correct, breech markings, etc. Thanks for your patience until I can buy more literature.

G date, 1935: At least 15 variations/combinations of stamps: Type 1 army mag. See if you can find pg 27 Third Reich.
If you're talking about my 1914, 4 ". I was just walking along, picking my nose, when WHAM! LOL FN |
FN...Yes, your 4" 1914. Nice. Lost without the book, but type 1 Army... droop wing 63 most common, right?
|
Type 1 army: Rolled, crimped, nickel plated. Alum. slant bottom. Stamps: 37, B90, S.91, S.92, E/154, E/211, and droop E/63. Issued with K, G, and 1936 up to the m block.

Frank...awesome!! As always I'm amazed at the knowledge base here and the willingness to help. This gives me a great starting point for round 2 of curing the "disease". Between Lugers and airplanes I'm sure to die with little cash but lots of cool assets!! Cheers!

oh, Frank that is a great picture, can I add it to a sticky in the boards?
Ed |

FN |
Augberger? Whatcha do in aviation?
|
Frank,
That is so great it makes my eyes water! Kind of like a Royal Flush of Lugers. Collections like yours are a fine example of what time and determination can accomplish. You do the hobby proud. |
words fail me....all I can do is shake my head when I see something like that.... (hey Ron!)
|
Hey Guys, thanks for your comments!!
Ed, sure you can "sticky" the picture. Ron, I didn't think of them as a Royal Flush. I guess it's the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten & Joker :D |
Frank
Really a great arrangement. You are definately the Mauser Man. Bill |
Hi Bill, yes I am a Mauser Man, but not as big a Mauser Man as my friend Bill Munis!!!
I still miss him!!!! |
