newbie G date question
 

I finished my Erfurt collection last week with a nice 1914 and am now ready to start with the Axis era. I would like to start looking for a G date but cant figure out from the references here what the difference is between a "G" date , P code , S/42, and K date are. Looking for a copy of Axis Pistols but until then I need some basic info. Also, what are the correct period mags for G date Lugers. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. Cheers!

FNorm... Just the 4" barrelled. An all matching, non-boosted Erfurt Arty is becoming rather a pipe dream. I always liked your 1914. Mine isn't as nice as yours but until I find one better...

and all of those have many variations.....

"G date" doesn't search on the site and I'm trying to determine what to look for. Inspection marks, proofs, what mags are period correct, breech markings, etc. Thanks for your patience until I can buy more literature.

G date, 1935: At least 15 variations/combinations of stamps: Type 1 army mag. See if you can find pg 27 Third Reich.

FN...Yes, your 4" 1914. Nice. Lost without the book, but type 1 Army... droop wing 63 most common, right?

Type 1 army: Rolled, crimped, nickel plated. Alum. slant bottom. Stamps: 37, B90, S.91, S.92, E/154, E/211, and droop E/63. Issued with K, G, and 1936 up to the m block.

There are six variations of the G-Date.

Frank...awesome!! As always I'm amazed at the knowledge base here and the willingness to help. This gives me a great starting point for round 2 of curing the "disease". Between Lugers and airplanes I'm sure to die with little cash but lots of cool assets!! Cheers!

That is so great it makes my eyes water! Kind of like a Royal Flush of Lugers. Collections like yours are a fine example of what time and determination can accomplish. You do the hobby proud.

I still miss him!!!!

As do I; he had a heck of a memory and knew Mauser's, Police, Test Lugers, Artillery's, jeez, he knew all the types and was almost always right :)
