Thanks - I wonder about wood replacement grips?

I`ve been looking for a pair of aluminum grips for my shooter for a long time. Can anyone help?

I ordered a set of the black P-38 grips from GunGrip (link above); they also have the Luger Walnut grips...

...and the left grip has the piece under the sideplate correctly formed...(it may not last, but it's there!)... :D

Got the P38 grips in the mail today...

Good news is that they will allow you to save/store your good OEM Bakelite grips away where they won't get damaged... ;)

Bad news...woo...where to start... :o

They need a lot of fitting...the epoxy squeezed out the fill & vent holes (of the mold) and was not cleaned up/ground away properly...there are quite a few strange lines cast into the outer surface...from the parting agent maybe???...several boogers on the inside edges...

Worst part - no grommets...and I don't feel like taking apart my old grips to get a set... :grr:

But for the $$$, they're OK...I can make them work...just wrap some duct tape around them to hold them on... :D

I may try ordering a set from the other place mentioned above...They sell grommets... :rolleyes:

Oh, yeah - The Ugly...that would be the inner surfaces... :roflmao:

One of the best investments I made a few years ago was to buy from Numrich's/Gun Parts Corp. a small bag containing about 20 sets of the generic grip screw/threaded grommet/collar grommet. They are very good quality; brass for both grommets and (appasrently) stainless for the screw. I have fitted them to a number of old original grip panels and also to new ones I made.

I went through my first bag and now have another.

You'll have to dig to find the part number, but they always have them, and these are an absolute "must" for anybody who works with pistols and grips.

The grommets are high enough that you can install them on anything, and then take them down to be flush with the grip surface.
