Headspacing

Being realitively new to Lugers but not new to firearms, what are the tools required and proper proceedures for checking headspace?

You will need a set of 3 headspace gauges> I bought mine from Forster.. One will be marked GO, another will be marked FIELD and the last one will be NOGO. Instructions will be provided with the gauges.

Alf.

Thanks Alf, I assume then that the extractor has to be removed to use the guages properly. Is that what the instructions tell you? or are the Forester guages notched?

Mine are for the K98k rifle and the extractor must be removed for better result, on pistols I never done any headspacing, but probably yes.

FYI,
You don't really need the Field gage if you have the "GO" and "NO GO". Notched gages don't require you to remove the extractor with most sets.
