Gun Show - Flu
Gee, I was planning on going to the local gun show tomorrow, BUT we have that H1N1 flu all over the place. Would you go, or delay getting a new toy for another time?
FN |
Why go to a gun show, just buy one of mine ;)
I don't know, its like the stocks, I am not affected by "what might happen". If there are huge outbreaks then thats different; otherwise, washing your hands etc prevents the flu from getting to you, and you could wear one of those masks like the Japanese and koreans wear when they have a cold? Buy some pocket sized hand sanitiser..... But easiest choice is to sit at home and order on-line? :) Ed |

I'm going to move my computer and fridge into my bathroom and stay in there for the rest of my life... ;) |
Ed,
AH! But it's the thrill of the chase! To stumble across an all matching 1914 Erfurt w/mag. I guess the same drive of the hunter, and opposed to those who buy their meat at the grocery store. Then again... Whatcha got in 1914 DWM Arties? or 1908 Navies? LOL, FN |
Fred..The swine flu only affects young people. Go and have a good time!

if you see this fella at the show, look for the nearest exit! :D

DRbuster,
Tell me about these. FN |
Just come back from Madagascar's gun show and bought a Japanese sword book.
Never thought about flu. In worse case, just become a "Jedi Master" as shown in picture posted by EricW. :) |
I'm staying home. Even though I hear the siren's call. Save me, save me from this addiction!
I already have two new toys this month, anyway, and am now pooor. FN |
The purpose of visiting a Gun Show is not acquiring guns only. Looking at those things, I feel happy. Of course, the door ticket cost $10. But better spent than a movie?
Saw an 85%+ Mauser Slabside LRH (made in 1900) asking $2k, hesitated a few minutes, but I resisted the lure and bypassed it. |
Ummm. OK, I'll admit it. I also look at (ogle) the young ladies in tight jeans, and low neck lines.
"Beautiful girls, walk a little slower when you walk by meee".... FN |
FN, Both of these 1914 Erfurt 4" P08's were obtained over a period of years. Both 100% correct. I'm sure you are aware of the existence out there of probable factory retrofitted 1914 dated Erfurts that do not possess the true features of the "real" 1914 (so called "mongrel" Erfurts). A true 1914 Erfurt has a non-relieved sear, proofed grip screws, no cut out on the receiver front for the artillery sight, and double proofs on the magazine bottom. Also, the mongrels are serialed all over the place, with even "q" and "r" suffixes. The "real" 1914's never got out of the "a" suffix as only 7000 were produced, according to Jan Still. I recently sold #7342 to a lucky collector, that included a 1914 dated holster and a correct double acceptence proofed non-matching extra magazine.

Lucky collector indeed!
I 'm thinking I'd like to see if I can get all the Erfurts. Something about the Imperials... FN |
All Military P.08, Pg 2, Another 1914, about the middle of the page.
|
FN, I hate to throw water on your aspirations but only TWO 1910 dated Erfurts are known to exist! You'd have an easier time collecting a representative dated example from the DWM imperials. See pages 80-82 of Jan Still's new Central Powers Pistols.
|
Yeah, I know about the 1910. I'll never see one, but the rest may be available. I got lucky and already have two of the rare ones. Right now I'm working on major mfgers, and major variations, But again I'll never be able to touch much before, say 1914. A decent Simson may be outta reach. We'll see. Never thought I'd get my Navy Wings either, but I did.

FN, I really admire your wish to better your collection and especially to narrow down your interest. Imagine the excitement when something you are looking for shows up! We need people like you to keep our luger hobby going and to survive the Obama onslaught.
|
LOL, YUP DR. It has happened already. Strolling the aisles. Suddenly you spot something, your heart rate starts up, breathing increases. A LUGER!
