All the reproduction Trommelmagazines that I have ever seen have an "MGC" stamp from the Japanese replica-gun factory that made them. They do not function as a 32 round drum, but only as a standard magazine--they are for "looks" only... hence, IMHO, if it can load more than 8 rounds, it is likely an original...

This is my TM 08. Looks to be same model as yours. Have been told by other members that there were actually 4 types of TM 08s, mine is a 4th Type. Your loader appears original and expensive ( over $1000 US ). Mine is a repro. Need a close-up of the knob that locks the winder open for loading, something looks diffferent about yours. Joe

The trommel is worth from $900-$1600 (wide range, because depending on if I was buying or selling), and overall condition, yours looks nice. The loader is rougher, I would say $700-$1000 and closer to the lower amount.

The little cover is worth around $100-$150...

Are they stamped with any numbers inside? I saw the thread for taking them apart and was thinking about giving it a try.
Man those springs are stiff. One bad move seems like it could do some real damage to your fingers !!

I don't think the small part is a dust cover. I think it is a machine gun adaptor (I forget for which model machine gun, and I'm too lazy to go look it up:)).

I took it apart and there's no numbers on anything in there.Inside looks just like the one that is on here that I used for the instuctions on how to do it.

Hey calibrator how is that knob held on ? Any way I can get a good close up pic to see what I'm missing ?

I'm pretty sure I have a better chance of Megan Fox knocking on my door and asking me out than I have of ever finding one of those knobs to replace it .

Does not having it kill the overall value ?

Hello NoLuck. There are LP-08 experts on this forum, I am NOT one of them. Look at past postings under the Artillery Luger section. There is a forum member named mauro that seems to have vast experience with everything ARTY. I am sure that like everything else Luger-esque, broken, mismatched or missing parts affect value. Don't know how often TM-08s come up for sale, but I'm sure there are probably 6-8 listed on Simpsons LTD. Best Regards! Joe

I am pretty sure there are both dust covers AND MP18 adapters and they are not the same device... George Anderson is also a SME (subject matter expert) on Trommelmags...

There are both dust covers and MG adaptors. The dust cover has a closed end. The piece in NoLuck's photo is a MG adaptor (open on both ends).

Yes I saw them on the simpsons site and they are MG adaptors. They don't have any knobs for sale though...

Per your request here are some pictures that hopefully will illustrate the little button that you are missing from your Trommelmagazine.

The first picture shows you how the top of this little button looks.

The second picture shows you the little spring that is under this button.

And I only included the third picture because this slot is not shown on the back of your magazine. I think you had your winding lever on top of this slot when you took your picture and that is why it must be obscured. However, if you do not have a slot like this on the back of your magazine, then that is something different that I have not seen before. I'm assuming you do have it, and that it is just behind the winding lever in your picture.

Other folks on this Forum know much more about these than I do, and some are also very handy. Possibly someone could make this little button and spring for you.

Or you might check with "Luger Doc" on this Forum and see if he has any parts, etc.

Those are fantastic. Thanks a lot. I don't have the spring either but that would sure make it a lot less dangerous to unlock ! I have almost taken out my fingers a couple of times already ! What holds it in place on the bottom ? The knob doesn't look like its removable from the shaft , is it ? I have the same lock slot on mine as in your pic.
I'm pretty handy and could probably make a replacement myself but I will get in contact with those guys and see if they have one.

Okay, glad the pictures were helpful.

In regard to your question "What holds it in place on the bottom ?" - I thought it would be a simple matter to remove the screw that is holding the winding lever arm in place.

Boy was I wrong.

The screw came out easily. But "Liquid Wrench" and vice grips with protective leather pads failed to even loosen the arm so that I could remove it and look on the back side.

Then under 10X magnification I discovered what looks like solder. Apparently this has been soldered in place so there is no way mine is going to come off unless I heat it. And I don't want to do that.

However, I was able to take this picture in which the button is being held down so that you can see what the end looks like. This is the part that engages the slot that is on the side of the magazine, and holds the entire winding arm in place.

You can see the little circular ring that is on the end of this little plunger-like rod that is depressed by the button you are missing. I used a rubber band to depress the button slightly.

I have not completely taken a Trommel apart yet; however, there is an excellent "sticky" on this Forum with pictures of how to do it.

So I am sorry, but I am going to have to defer to someone who is more knowledgeable about the procedure for actually removing this little plunger we are discussing.

Anyway, here's the picture of what the end looks like.

Instantly after making that post I said to myself why don't I just take it off and take a look ??:banghead:
I just thought that maybe one of you already knew and would just save me a step.
I followed those instructions that are posted on here a few days ago and took it apart. That was before you noticed the strange knob. But the funny thing is , I had that arm off and the little piece of the shaft that I still have left didn't fall out.It's still in there somehow with no spring to hold it ?? I'm going to take a look again and see what I come up with.
