1914 Erfurt Artillery Luger
 

I have a 1914 Erfurt Artillery Luger. S/N is 4036 as indicated on all appropriate parts except the wood tipped clip (no s/n) and the wood stock (no s/n). I have found no evidence or remanufacturing or modification. Bluing is worn but appears original with little to no pitting. Stamped with "GERMANY" in english. I have not identified all proofs but the ones I have identified indicate military (not commercial). I would appreciate any knowledge anyone can share in determining what I really have and what it may be worth. Attached is a photo. More photos available (please specify viewing angle). Thank you!

It's one of the more valuable artilleries, since only about 23,000 were made.

Is there a chip out of the left grip, near the base of the safety lever?

Have you had it apart to see if the internal numbered parts also match?

More pictures of the stock will help. Even if it isn't numered, does it have any markings on it?

I will be at the Allentown show in a couple of weeks, me and Tom W set up a couple tables each show, I think row N1 and N2 :)

Erfurts were only made in 1914 as artilleries; and although fewer made, surprisingly you see a lot of them. The stock is worth from $400-$800, unless matched to the luger. The luger anywhere from $1400-$2000 or so, depending on who wants it. Wide ranges I know...

Hey I have this ones brother in the next post ! Do you have a pic of the stock ? I'd like to see the shape of yours in comparison to mine.

I can't tell for sure (not knowing enough about it) whether there is a chip out of the upper left grip. It was either made that way or is chipped and smoothed. I will take a few more pics and post including the stock, holster, and sight key.
