Luger ejects, but jams every time on feeding --HELP

9 mm Luger that somone put a new longer barrel on. When firing, it fires just fine, ejects just fine, but EVERY ROUND, IT JAMS BULLET UP AGAINST FEED RAMP. What should I do to try to correct this feeding jam problem?

Most likely the magazine is the issue. Do you have more than one? Or do you know someone else who shoots a Luger that you can try their magazine(s)?

The likely cause is that the notch in the magazine that retains it in the pistol may be worn to be too large and the magazine sits low in the gun. You can test this theory by resting the gun butt in the palm of your non shooting hand when you fire. This will push the magazine higher in the pistol.

If you successfully load the second round when using this technique, then you will have confirmed that the magazine (or that part of the magazine catch that holds the magazine) is at fault. Use Winchester FMJ ammo for your testing. It generally works well in all 9mm Lugers. You can normally find it at Walmart, but many have been sold out for months...

Welcome to the Luger forum. Please post photos of your Luger with a longer barrel, and let us know the results of your testing.

Jack, If above test still fail, so it's not the mag or the ammo, I'd fire check the head spare of new barrel and give it a feed ramp polish. If still a problem, check that the recoil spring has from 19 to 21 coils. as it may have been a 17 coil 7.65mm originally. If all else fails, see a competent Lugersmith. TH

luger jamming new cartridge when fired

Thanks so much for the suggestions for my Luger problem. Sorry, I have no pictures or camera, and no knowledge to use them if I had them, for posting. I am soooo busy, that God only knows when I will get a chance to go shoot it again, but one day I will, and will try the things you have suggested, and if still a problem, I will let you know.
