Having rangetime this morning with a couple of "other" classics
 

Took my CYQ 1944 P-38 and Wartime Commercial C-96 out to the range this morning :bowdown:

Nice and relaxing.

I saw recently at an antique gun show in Frederick/MD a C-96 for sale, for under $ 1.000.-
Maybe a reproduction?

Depends on exactly what it is. Shooters (Bolo and standard barrel) are around for $450 - $700 on Gunbroker and at the local yokel gun shows 'round here. Seems that nicer wartime commercial examples are fetching $1K plus these days. Add more $$$ with a stock. As usual, prices are all over the place when you get to the nicer ones. So, it pays do research it a bit. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but an observer who tries to find good deals ;). Someone else might have a better grasp on the prices of these things than I.

The C-96 was in a really good shape, the grips looked mint, the blueing excellent, maybe reblued.
I really enjoy to shoot my P 38, too. It is one of the last civilian (whole steel) P 38 produced. It has a special anniversary marking: "1886-1986, 100 Jahre Walther" I am not sure about the exact spelling because I don' t have the gun here in MD. It shoots very accurate, much better than a regular WW2 P-38 or a post war P-1.

Wow, sounds like you have a nice P-38 there. Mine is decent, but I need to replace the extractor which I haven't gotten around to yet.

You got it! It's a matching numbers gun in the 356XXX range IIRC, but I'll shoot some closeups in the next day or two. I can say one thing, it shoots fantastic.
