New guy here....

...with two questions. Are there "For Sale" or "Wanted to Buy" posts on this site; and what't he best way to locate a previously owned Luger? My Old-Sold one has to be out there somewhere! Thank you!

welcome. Look around the site and you can read a lot here.

Finding your old luger is possbile, but improbable. You're the best bet, find out who you sold it to, then who they sold it to etc.

A needle in a haystack would be easier i am sure...

Ed, since he is an "old cop", can't he just contact a friend on the force to search the national registry of guns??? I'm sure he must know the serial...I have records on all my weapons back to 1971...

IIRC, from a local sheriff in my old AFRES squadron, in NY the polices can check from a roadside stop whether you have a registered pistol...

Its because of the state you are from. I have mostly lived where used guns are not tracked.

so, no, not possible in most places.

Postino:

I see you reside in New York. I think you may have things turned around. New York is one of only a handful of states that has gun registration! When you mentioned, national registry of guns, what are you referring too?

As far as the New York State Police are concerned, unless you inform them that you are carrying a handgun on a routine traffic stop (This is not required by NY law by the way), they would have no way of knowing you had a New York State pistol permit and were carrying a gun!

Regards,

George
