1920 Russian Capture "parts gun" Luger

Hey Guys,

I thought I would show my ugly 1920 double date parts gun... also looks to be a russian capture. I'm thinking the upper was from a Russian capture luger, and then the whole thing was assembled post war?

Believe it or not, this thing shoots better than any other Luger I have! This is a true shooter! I don't think it really has any history or collector's value, so should I reblue it and maybe bubba it a bit? How much does it usually cost to reblue something like this?

I was thinking of saving the toggle assembly, and the grips which has a curious "M" and a WaA on it. Is there any chance the "M" is for Kriegsmarine?

If anyone has any of their own customized Lugers I would be interested to see it for ideas, I would also be interested to know how much a re-blue or nickle plating job would. Also, is it possible to figure out who made the frame?

Rylan,

Looks like an Erfurt upper with a DWM frame (no proofmark on the triggergard). As for blueing on a shooter like this, I have had good success with Brownells "oxpho-blue." You just have to make sure the metal is absolutely clean. You can straw the small parts in an oven. KFS
