Do I have an origal magazine
I recently purchased my first Luger, it is a 1917 ERFURT with all matching numbers. However the magazine may not be original. The magazine is blued with an aluminum plug, it has these markings â??fxoâ?, P.08 and a stick eagle over 37. I have two questions first did this magazine come with the gun and if not would the original magazine have had a wood plug.
Thanks for the info. Jerry |
Re: Do I have an origal magazine
Jerry; that is a great magazine, but didn"t come with the pistol. The original mag bottom was wood. Sounds like a nice pistol.!

Re: Do I have an origal magazine
Jerry, I seem to remember my Luger mentor telling me the change from wood mag bottoms to other types of material started in 1923. This is not factual but I would guess somewhere around this time. Jerry

Re: Do I have an origal magazine
Jerry,
The oritginal mag for your pistol would have been a nickel or tin plated one (not blued) with a wood bottom. However, the fxo37 mag that you have is a much better one for shooting, as it is more reliable and sturdy than the older sheet metal ones. |
Re: Do I have an origal magazine
Wanna trade for a correct period mag? I have a bunch of Imperial era wood bottoms and need an fxo at present.
Will do an even swap. If interested, email me off list. |
Re: Do I have an origal magazine
Your magazine is certainly AN original, but not to your pistol. The marking suggest that it was made by Haenel, whose stamp the stick-eagle and code number 37 was during WW2.
