Just inherited Luger, have questions as to how to determine it's value

My father recently passed away and I have his old Mauser. The registration card says is was manufactured by Interarms-Mauser, it is a .30 caliber, the model is a Parabellum, serial number 10,001928, color blue, 6” barrel. It does not have a magazine. I don’t believe it’s ever been fired. It looks to be in perfect condition, with a Warranty of Statement of Liability card, and the original manual (which is in pretty good shape). It does not have a box, and was stored in a padded Ruger bag. Can anyone suggest a source for more information on this gun, it’s value etc?

You have come to the right place. This gun was manufactured in the 1970's and just be patient and those who know will advise you on the gun's present value.

While I am not a collector of the Mauser Luger pistols made in this era, my estimate would be somewhere between $800 to 1200 dollars. It would be a bit more if the gun still had the original box and all the factory accessories... but someone who had a closer eye to the value will be along soon.

Posting photos would be a good idea, since one man's "unfired" condition could be another man's "used".

Thanks for the quick reply! I will try to get some pictures taken in the next day or so, and post them.

there was a total production of the .30 cal of 5,070.

the first production number was 10.001001. it was first produced in 1970. the first 1000 numbers were reserved for prototypes and special production. the models in .30 cal are quite scarce. there were 16,220 produced in the 9mm version. all of these facts are the work of "the luger artillery--La Luger Artiglieria"

Hi,

Your pistol was part of one of the first shipments from Mauser to Interarms in 1971. Your pistol was shipped in crate #34, on the 31st of march, 1971, together with 29 other pistols.

Replacing the accessories shoudn't be too difficult, they are not numbered to the gun and the original magazines, loading tools and brushes can be found. I think our forum's Tom Heller (Lugerdoc) can provide most items. The boxes were numbered to the pistol, however, and that makes it almost impossible to replace them.

Thanks to everyone for the info. I am going to sell it, since I don't have any use for it (I'll get some pics posted before the end of the week). Any suggestions on where to offer it?

You could post it right here in our Lugers and firearms for sale section.

Hmm. I'm looking here at a 9mm box without a pistol, which coincidentally is numbered 10928. How are the odds for that?

Thanks, I'll do that!

Very similar serial number to my Dad's gun, but his is 10,001928, at least according to the llcense that was with the gyn.
