Quick draw holster
 

I hope to get a little help to identify this type of a holster. It is a mystery for me. It has no marker, unit or B.A… stamp. It never got the pull strap. The added provision for the cleaning rod is of that kind we find on the early altered and used holsters by the Weimar Army. It´s the only “quick draw” Luger holster type I know to exist. It´s belt loops are a bit wider as on other military or commercial holsters and they are not sloping but straight. The lining is fixed by stitches as we find on Long P08, Navy or Weimar (up from about 1922 made) holsters. I must not mention the unique flap.

Just guessing here. It does resemble an early Swiss, but with a larger flap. Perhaps a customized 1920's commercial?

Does the tool pouch cover look original or is there evidence that it was replaced at some time?

I recall an old posting on a similar holster.
I believe that it was determined to be a holster originally made for the Walther Model 6. Later converted to a Luger holster for police issue. Some were changed to an "up" strap as police specification, some were left with the original "down" strap as is yours.

This holster is shown on page 200 of Bender's book. Unfortunately not much information except to call it a conversion from military to commercial? Bill

Patrice, thank´s for the information; some photos would be nice.
It seems that holsters of this type are alterations of survival Imperial holsters. May be some like this one were made new during Weimar time. I will take some photos and ask Jerry for some help. He will be able to see if my is a new made or an alteration.
