Don't know what to say.....

Hmmm.... Just noticed two things: (1) it's an English speaking country; (2) the paper is high quality

New US Bank notes??

ghost of the future? Its good for a loaf of bread, if you can find one.

I doubt there is still one billion dollar note or not, looks like 10 billion paper value cannot cover its print cost.
|
Seems like it would be cheaper just to revalue their currency.
|
Zimbabwe is experiencing hyperinflation. Currently, the government limits cash withdrawals to ZW$100 billion per day, which is less than the cost of a loaf of bread. Zimbabwe used to be Rhodesia.

And Rhodesia was a bread basket. An exporter of food.

For cross referencing, a commuting bus ticket was 2.5 billion last July. For obvious reason, that was on news. Just past a single year, I guess 25 trillion cannot buy a ticket.

that is one unhappy looking ox !!!

I'm afraid were heading the same way, unless we can stop the runaway printing and spending. 1920's Germany was the same, thats why my Grandfather legally immigrated to the USA

...classical example of what invariably happens when a basically healthy country, with genuine sociological problems requiring reform, is turned over to slick and egomaniacal far left racist propagandists shouting "change" and waving little red books.
They got their "change". We are in process. ...no reason to expect different results here. ...except that we have better printing presses and graphics designers at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving; no frowning bulls there; only in the White House. :p |

Yes, this is exactly what happened to Germany after World War I too, but for different reasons. Here is a picture of a Ten Million Mark banknote dated August 22, 1923. It is only printed on one side.
As collectors we know what was going on with our Lugers at this time. During this time of hyperinflation in Germany it would literally take a wheel barrow full of such paper money to simply buy a loaf of bread. Mauser720 - Ron |
Oh, and that's a CAPE BUFFALO for all you non safari types! 8^)
|
Hmm, with these amounts they should print the money on absorbing paper. At least it has a certain use then.... :)
|
Zimbabwe was originally Rhodesia? They have great dogs!

Victoria Falls and Cape buffalo - true Africa!
In 1994 one Rand (South Africa) was about one Zim dollar. At this stage R8.20 (Rand) is about 1 US$ It shows what can happen in 15 years. We had inflation of about 8% on average in RSA, but our friends across the border are measuring inflation in millions of percentage points. Piet |
