Sight Picture

Hey y'all,

Anyone know what Unserer Deutscher Leute, our German people, taught what the proper sight picture was and and
at what distances?

For simplicity sake I will say it as follows:

Raised Front Sight

.....Target
.........||
.....MM MM

Level Front Sight

.....Target
.....MM||MM

NOTE:Ignore the periods, they are there for alignment purposes.
Where:
Target = Targret
|| = Front Sight Blade
MM MM = Rear Sight

So, in the Raised Front Sight position i wold imagine t hat
is for targets around 50 meters?

If so would the Level Front Sight then be in the 25 meter
category?

I know the focus is always on the front sight blade with your
target being fuzzy and your rear sight being fuzzy.

Guessing the ratio in meters is :

RFS - 50 25
LFS - 25 10

by the way, anyone know what the Maximum Effective Range
is for the standard 4-inch barrel Luger?

Cheers,

Spiike

A level front sight was the norm.

The pistols were testfired at 50 meters, and that was the effective range for the 4" inch version. Of course, the round will keep on doing it's thing until well over 1000 meters, but any thing hit beyond 50 meters is a matter of luck, not of aiming :)

In this respect, both the navy and artillery versions score much better with the stock attached (and so does the 4" of course).
