So...Were the German mailmen supposed to feed the holster to the packs of roaming dogs??? :confused:

That's understandable...I found my Doberman curled up on my coach with one of my combat boots, once long ago...I guess he got lonely while I was at work... :D

I heard that many germans had more than 6 dogs and thats why revolvers were not good for mailmen and the Kaiser pressed for the development of an automatic pistol so the mailservice would not brake down completely :)

When I went to work for USPS all they gave us was a little can of pepper spray. And told us how to roll up a magazine to use as a club against dog attacks.

For some obscure reason, this thread reminded me of the "velodog" class of cheap revolver; specifically, one that was a combined revolver/knife/brass knuckle...It folded up so you could use the knuckle, or unfolded to use the revolver and/or knife...I always thought that was a really clever idea...just not for dogs!!! :D

Glad somebody else likes Dobies. :cheers: I once found my Dobe curled up on the couch with one of my schoolbooks. He learned quickly that I did not approve of "mouth reading". He loved the comfort of the couch so much that I could never break him of that; just threw an old blanket over it for him to lay on when I left the house.

I've owned, bred, raised, and rescued Dobermans since 1973; same with Weimaraners since 1991...they all have the run of the house, but counter surfing is frowned upon...(it's clean, but slippery)...I have one of each right now, plus a mutt Terrier...Old bedspreads on all my couches...and about a zillion toys all over the house...

Lots of great stories about Dobes & Weims over the years...

There's an old saying..."If you starve with a Doberman, the Doberman starves last"... :D

To get back on topic (sort of)...Were Luftwaffe holsters brown???

Lessee: Black grips were only for the SS, and an SA proof means it was from the brown shirts???

Not bad for a 1915, WWII holster. I guess they came varnished.

The seller rates a a+ for originality in his descriptions. He would never be accused of plagiarism for copying his descriptions form reference books as he doesn't seem to have any reference books. For more examples look at his other Items for sale. The Items are rare and Interesting. Combat knife? Luger Holster? Body warmer? all with his imaginative descriptions. Bob
