1982 Mauser Cartridge Counter...

From an estate sale, I am toying with the idea of buying one of 250 Cartridge Counters that were made in 1982 by Mauser. It is NIB, never been used, all original signed documentation, original test target, display case, tools, mag, etc, etc.

Does anyone have any idea of what the current market value of this item may be? Or, where would I look to find such current up to date information.

Thanks,

Bart

Bart,

I had an earlier post where I saw one a short while back for $2250 with no takers. It too was still in original box as new. Tom Heller might be able to give you some idea of value.

Hmmm, thanks for the information on the auction, but I guess I would like to know if $2095 is a "steal", a "rip-off" or does it represent the "going rate" for a collectable of this nature. How does one find out before making a decision? Are there any pricing guides out there? I would like to have some solid information so I know whether to walk away, or go for it. I guess what I would spend for this Luger could buy a really nice "Imperial" or "Third Reich", I just don't want to hate myself in the morning if I find I passed on a really good deal that will only increase in value.

Bart;

For that kind of money you can get a pretty nice uncommon older Luger that will increase in value more than one of these, IMOH.

Bart,

The issue price almost 20 years ago was right at $4000. I would not look for it to increase in value to any great extent. These are the kind of pistols you don't want to buy in expectation of seeing them increase rapidly in value. Apparently demand is still low in light of the high original issue price, so there is no such thing as a solid "take it to the bank" price. Auction Arms is seen by a lot of buyers, and no one seemed to get too excited about the pistol. That pistol pretty well tested the waters.

If you're willing to drop 2 Gs...

then I agree with Hugh, a really nice rare OLD pistol will appreciate much better, and have WAAAAAY more history.

Be aware that these models are of different measures than the original P08.

These were made on machinery Mauser bought from Switzerland and therefore rather have the measures of P06/29 made by WF Bern.
