Made it to the range today with some new toys. The mostly 41 byf ,this is one with at least 5 different serial numbers in it, a war bring back, shot really well. With any magazine, and three different length cartridges. Everything from Win. white label at 1.160 OAL, to my much shorter hand loads, 1.073 And accurately!

The 7.65 commercial has a problem. It loads and ejects just fine, but the firing pin isn't getting cocked upon return to battery. I can drop the magazine, pull back the toggle a half inch, let it go and it all fires again. So???? Any suggestions? This is with who knows how old ammo though. Still if it loads and ejects???? I've really got in there tonight and scrubbed everything down. Some dirt in the breech block. Try again next week. Then I might be talking with LugerDoc....

Your sear surface may have a one time been trimmed down so short as to not lock on firing....check and see the depth of the engagement....

I have no doubt you fired them accurately, but could you fire a full magazine of 8 reliably?

For round nose you should strive for an OAL of 1.169 to 1.173,
for truncated cone, 1.15.

I also own a BYF 41, and these are really nice pistols.

Didn't have the tool so could only get 5-6 rounds in. I'm old. Hands hurt sometimes.

Lead me by said hand as to how to check the engagement depth?

Measuring is easy...

Degrease and de-oil the surfaces with alcohol.

Then use a good black magic marker to color the engagement surface of the sear, and / or firing pin. Assemble and dry fire a few times. Then disassemble and measure the depth of engagement by checking to see how much marker has been scratched on each piece by the two surfaces rubbing together.

Found the fix, a sticky in the "repairs restorations section"

Apparently the the slide is de-cocking itself cuz of lack a clearance between the trigger bar, and the push pin on the front of the sear.
