letter suffix
1 Attachment(s)
Maybe someone can tell me what this letter suffix is.
The local police registered this as an N, ( it looks like an N ) but I think they are wrong because as far as I know, and I am to be corrected, there is no 1937 Luger with an N letter suffix. Thanks Alf. |
Can you post a pic of the serial on the front of the grip frame???
Except for the "pigtail", that magazine "n" is the same as mine...but it's the frame serial that determines... |
The front of the grip frame is the same letter, The mag is same serial number. I took the photo of the mag because it is easer to do so than the frame.

Hi Guys, the letter suffix is a "W". Only on 1937 Military Mausers!!!

Alf, the "W" on 1939 Code 42 and 41 byf look more like the letter "W" we expect. The 1937 "W" is unique to that year!
|
Hi Frank, thank you for this valuable information, it makes you wonder why in so short time there was a change in the letter style. And if I understand correctly this for the 1937 only:o

Alf -
I couldn't help but notice that on your aluminum mag bottom, there are two crossed lines under the letter...Since you're in the country you are, does that make those lines a...Maltese cross???... C'mon, lighten up people!!! This hobby is supposed to be fun!!! |
postino, under the serial number on the mag under the letter suffix, there is a normal cross which indicate that it is the spare mag of the pistol and under it there is the proof mark, eagle over 63, which is the normal markings on some Lugers magazines. It could be that the photo isn't so good to see the markings clear enough :o
