Commercial?
 

Just traded myself into my first Luger (30cal) and I have some questions.

All parts that have numbers are the same as the last 2 digits of the serial # but many parts do not have any numbers that I can see. Numbered parts include the rear half of the toggle, take down lever,and side plate. Is this normal?

I got it for a shooter and am not worried about correctness but am curious about what it is and when it may have been made.

sis, sounds OK, is under barrel matched. front of frame at under barrel location? is clip matched, can't tell....not all parts would have a SN#...sounds like a good one.

Barrel and frame match. Magazine SN does not match and the other one is aluminum base with no SN. The only problem I have found with the gun is that when you fill the wood based magazine with more than 5 rounds it won't feed. The aluminum mag feeds fine with 8.

I've wanted one of these for many years and just lucked into this one.

Wood bottom mags, and yours looks nice, are in the collectors realm and should be retired...stick with the alum mag and perhaps a good after market second one......

As Howard said, commericial lugers are marked in the "commericial" manner, i.e. the serial numbers are considered "hidden" only marked in a few places, not obvious like a military luger.

The last two digits of the S# can also be found on the bottom of the forward toggle and extractor, and left side of the breechblock and trigger. The wood bottom mag you have is WWI Erfurt. The correct mag should be wood bottom with no stamps, or stamped 'GERMANY'.

The trigger does have the SN but could not find it on the breechblock or forward toggle.
The pistol is not stamped "Germany" does this mean it was not produced for export?

Either not for export, or not to the USA, the USA required the "germany" marking, not Canada, Mexico, etc.
