Importing Guns
I have imported guns from Switzerland and am about to import from Germany. Here is a current summary of my experience, linked to relevant online resources:
|
Great information Michael. Good to hear from someone that has "been there - done that". I have no intent to import guns but I am sure your tips will be valuable to those who are considering it.
|
Self-importing has been good to me, but it is incredibly time consuming-my last one took a year-and you run the risk of having to export (time and additional expense) if the gun is not as advertised.

Michael, I have made this a sticky. Good info and tutorial.

Thanks.
Michael,
Great information and thank you for introduced me to the Forum. |
Michael:
Great information and it took time to prepare this. I am among the many who are grateful. David |
My pleasure. Look for updates from my latest shipment from Germany, delayed by an export permit previously procured by Hermann Historica, revoked in response to a "terrorist scare".

Good work on "erasing" that import mark! |
Michael,
thanks !!! for the window into reality for this idea of importing items sounds like quite an adventure and not something to try without some assistance Bill |
Customs can be such a pain in the backside. even with non firearms. My father imported an English Myford Lathe and needed a broker, for one thing it was shipped to LA instead of San Francisco, we lived in the East Bay at that time. When I was into Live Steam I once imported a Boiler and wished I had used a Broker as the custom agent did not have a rate, he finally put in under "Toys" and everyone was happy. You think Lugers cost a lot of money try Live steam, I am now living on SS disabily and have sold all my Live Steam locomotives. However, the nearest track is 250 miles away as I now live in TX. CA too costly to Live there any more.
