Ammo Question

Guys,

Any ideas on this ammo?

I've been going through my "stuff" and found 2 cardboard boxes of it.

No clue as do what is is?

I am pretty sure it is 4mm ammo for training, such as the Erma 22 single shot barrel adaptors.

Ed nailed it. There is also a Swiss conversion unit. It is used as a single shot. It takes a little "spoon" to insert the round into the barrel adapter and then you have to poke out the spent cartridge with a rod.
I do not have a 4mm adaptor, but I wouldn't mind adding a box of these to my Luger odds and ends if you decide to part with them.

So what is the value on this?

Prewar or post war?

I can't remember what I paid or where they came from. I think they were with some auction ammo that I bought years ago and I have two boxes of it.

Patronen = Cartridges

Ã??bungsmunition = Practice Ammunition

Interesting...

I think prewar.

LU1900 -

Then the munitions in the boxes in the pics are the entire cartridge??? Copper case + lead bullet, all in one???

Are they centerfire or rimfire??? Or does it matter???

Basically, they are center AND rimfire. Work with both.

Russ had a couple of boxes of these a few years ago. he gave me a small handful and for the last two years, one will turn up in a drawer or in a pocket (Lord knows how that worked), one in a tool box :D etc

Seriously....

Hello Mark,

The 4 mm ammo is made by RWS (Sinoxid) in the 1930's. I suppose that one box would have a value of about $40. A nice item to add to a display that includes a conversion kit.

If I had the conversion kit I would shoot a few rounds in my Luger for sure!

What a great idea!

I think the loading and extraction was a chore but I'd love to shoot at paper in the basement or livingroom with the kit. ... I'd be sold on the idea in the 30's
