What was the WWI, WWII, and police, original ammo?
Bullet weight, muzzle velocity of the 9mm round? FN |
Hi,
That is not an easy question to answer in a couple of lines. Books have been written about parts of the subject alone. The original 9mm was of a truncated cone design, the ogival made it's appearance in 1917. The basic design remained unchanged, but some changes were made to bullet and case materials and the powder type. WW2 saw the introduction of the steel cased laquered variations, before the war Germany was already experimenting with steel core bullets and the sintered iron bullets. |
Interesting, Thank you. Then what is safer to shoot today? 115gr. or 125 gr. The most common rounds on the market. Or used to be on the market. Hard to find even .22 around here now.
