I don't know what DB stands for, but BNP is a British proof mark it means your Luger spent some time in England. It was probably imported in the 50s or 60s. Also how much did you pay?

The knockle looks exceptionally nice...

You unfortunately paid more than the gun is worth, unless you live somewhere other than the US, were a mismatched, refinished gun like this is worth $400-$600, depending on where in the US you purchased it.
At least you own a Luger and can enjoy shooting it.....

$1000 is a bit much for a mismatch but at least you have a Luger. Remember they don't make them anymore! Hey Doug where can you find a shooter for $400? The best I could do was a Russian Capture 1918 DWM for $575.

Just recently bought a 1940 42 Luger, all matching except a forced sideplate, safety bar and sear. Dipped blue for $450. I also bought a mismatched 1939 for $400 about six months ago.

The secret?; get away from the gun boards and frequent local gun shows, fleamarkets, VFW halls and historical events. That's were the bargains come out of the woodwork.
Here in Souh Florida WW2 veterans are unfortunately leaving us at an alarming rate. There are many guns of all sorts coming onto the market.

Yes, we are lucky that so many returning veterans brought back guns. It allows us more of a choice and has provided us with a substancial pool of weapons to collect from.

Bakel, Since the parts of your luger are so mismatched, the renumbered (83) barrelled 1917 receiver is of little consequence. The phoney "BMP" marking on the rear of the frame, is not the British "BNP" and is in the incorrect location, which leads me to believe that it may more likey be of "Kyber Pass" origin, rather than British.
