Mauser Parabellum
 

I just got in a six-inch barrelled Mauser/Interarms "Swiss model" Parabellum that I won on a "buy it now" off one of the auction sites. It's in excellent condition but unlike my four-inch model, it had been fired so I have no problems shooting it. I fired half a box through it today and it shoots great, although the grip safety takes some getting used to.
It did come in the original box sans extra mag, cleaning rod and mag tool, so I am going to have to find a spare mag.
Unlike my other Lugers, this will not be a safe queen and I intend to shoot it.
It's great to buy a "shooter" for a change.

be aware if you have the plastic bottom on your mag. i had one which broke
 

recently and lugerdoc says he has some fixins' to make it right again. but, they are not as durable as the other varieties. i am going to fix mine and then order new, more durable ones to shoot and put mine away....tom

Mine has a metal-bottomed magazine and my NIB four-inch model has plastic-bottomed mags. Does someone make new mags for these?

Hello to all! As we speak, I'm wearing out scales to come to grips with the post war Parabellums magazines compared to the wartime P.08 mags! Rest assured, when I figure it out, Lugerdoc will be the very, very first to know!!!... I have a lot of forum help on this, and I'm Bohemien (sp.?) which makes me about ten times more stubbron then the average European...forgot to add, but, only about half as smart! :) In short, money is not the driving force... Don't shoot the plastic bottomed magazines too much. The bottom is rather brittle and can (or better: will) fracture at some point.

Magnum, Here are some alternative for your Parabellum: Mauser marked originals: new wood bottomed (made for some commeratives) @$150, lightly used with BP bottom @$100. Same mag but marked on spine "made in Holland" @$75. Some less expensive alternatives would be new MecGar BPBed mags or new wood bottomed 3K mags @$30 each + $6 S&H. hellerarms@webtv.net

Well, if one were to make new bottoms the decision would have to be made as to materials, wood or aluminum. Aluminum would seem to me to be more durable. I had no idea these originals would break before reading this thread.

Magnum, Sorry misquoted. Wood bottom 3K mags are $35 and BPBed ones @$25. TH PS: I do also have the original brass Parabellum cleaning rods and Mauser marked loading tools in stock @$35 each + S&H. TH
