Black widow with British proofs question
 
I recently picked up this byf 42 with black grips, all matching serial numbers except the mag.

This pistol has the british proofs on it as seen in the picture below.

I know how much original black widows are selling for usually, but how much does the british proofing detract from the value?

I just bought a byf41 matching with the same BNP marks. How much it devalues the pistol depends on what non marked pistols are selling at the time. I would say the going price for this type of gun is $6-700.

You can hardly get a decent, mis-matched shooter for $600-700. If the "Widow" is all-matching, I would add $300-400 to the above. I may be alone in this, but I wouldn't equate British firing proofs with really ugly US importer markings, and wouldn't seriously devalue a weapon with them.

Yes, I agree. This is a real black widow. AIM was selling Finnish reworks about a year ago for $1100 if I remember correctly.


The magazine has me puzzled as I thought byf42 had a black bottom magazine.

This magazine must be a transitional magazine.
