i hve been doing some research on this. 1910 date on top of barrel. dmw marked. all numbers match-except magazine. marked
B.1.R.C.2.11
was told-bavarian 1st regiment, 2nd company weapon 11. number b5090. in the book i was looking up, found lowest observed serial number to be b5095. could this be the lowest now? http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...tbpappy/l4.jpghttp://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...econd_comp.jpg
i was thinking of possibly selling it, to partly pay for a ww2 vehicle. i know something like this wont come around again. any thoughts on value?

Bavarian Infantry Regiment 1, 2nd company, weapon 11. What is the serial number?

gtbpappy 03-04-2009 09:45 PM

b 5090

it also has the last 2 of the serial number on bottom of side plate. does not stay open on last shot with magazine in. this was brought back from ww2 from my neighbors granddad-- big red 1. captured--or taken from a concentration camp.

The fact that it has no hold-open latch is consistent with a Bavarian issued weapon. The Bavarian and Wurtemburger P08s are known to have not had hold-opens added. Photos, if possible, would be appreciated.

i was reading up on this pistol. says in the book lowest observed serial number is b5095. looks like mine is 5 under. reading up some on this unit-looks to be the unit hitler wanted for his 1st unit, but was transfered out soon.

Depends on what book you are reading. Some are not as good as others, or have older information.... 5 under is acceptable, even more as the number in books are just best guesses or what was reported at the time.

Welcome to the forum; I "merged" your two posts into one (thus why your first post looks different).

Although "rarer" than many other years, you see 1910's more often than say, a 1912 (geo told me this last weekend ;)); and I picked up a non unit marked one this last weekend myself. Value could be $600-$1500, all depending on condition and originailty.
