Rg34 for Luger?

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
got this RG34 some time ago.
"P" might be for Pistole (pistol)?
"S/42" "39" and serial#
Ever seen something like that?
Thanks
Tom

HI!
I have one kit for sale. The only thing is, that it is a West-German reinigungsger¤t. The oil-bottle is metal and from the WWII era, I think.
Anyone? I`m interested in all luger parts, thanks!

Tom,

Interesting. I've seen a number of these RG34's and own a few but have never seen this sort of marking.

Here's an image of the RG34 in use. Not many people know they were used to clean P08's as well.

Hello,
beautiful photo! Have photos showing the RG34 in use with K98k ...., but not with a pistol.
Well, the Germans only had the RG34 and the RG34 for cal.22 to clean their guns.
The RG34 cal.22 was used for training rifles and some booty weapons. The regular RG34 for all other rifles, pistols, sub machine guns .....
But, G.Appel produced a RG34 with a clamp for a 9mm brush. This clamp was inside the lid of the large compartment. These RG34 do not have a WaA stamp. Why?? Export? Field Test?
Thanks
Tom

I'm on thin ice when it comes to these RG34's..
But for me S/42 would indicate Mauser production (1936-38) in Oberndorf.
Can't understand why Mauser would stamp something made by G.Appel?
If restamped after production by Mauser, it would have been done the same year as produced. Just my thoughts.

Hello,
the S/42 stamp was not applied by Mauser. Most probably by the armorer of the unit.
Some prewar RG34 are marked with "G" or "K" for rifle/carbine and the serial# of the gun.
Some RG34 are marked with a unit stamp.
This is the only one I've seen so far with such a detailed allocation to a certain gun.
attached photo shows a RG34 with Navy acceptance and unit marking.

Hello,
some more details on RG34 markings.

Heeres Verordnungsblatt dated 5/9/35:
Until further notice, unitmarkings on equipment are omitted. Existing markings do not have to deleted.
Heeresverordnungsblatt dated 7/15/39:
RG34 cleaning kits are to be stamped with "G" + serial# when issued with a rifle Mod. 98 and "P" + serial# when issued with a pistol.

Seems that not many armorers followed this order.
