DWM Alphabet commercial????
6 Attachment(s)
I pick this one up at a gun show this weekend. (Had to do something about that 13 thing.) It was billed as a 1920 commercial which is now called the DWM Alphabet commercial completely refinished. I am not sure what it is, so I am consulting the experts. First the only serial numbers left on it are on the front of the frame (5065 no suffix and a 53 on the hold-open lever. The upper screams DWM Alphabet commercial with the Crown N proof on the blank receiver and front toggle, but the frame has me questioning that. Rather than describe it, I'll let pictures speak for it.
Thanks for any help. Lynn |
Nice shooter! I think the frame is of Erfurt manufacture.

This proof mark (it looks to be Cf) and the fact it does not have a stock lug makes me wonder.
The other question is: Since the ATF considers the frame to be the gun, When you have a mismatched like this, do I book it as a 20 DWM or whatever the frame turns out to be? By the way, it is a 30. Lynn |
I agree that the frame is a pre 1914 Erfurt, which could have been reworked into a commerical during the 1920s, but certainly not a new production Alpha commerical. TH
