1920 Commercial Rework??

5 Attachment(s)
I just received 3 more Lugers today and among them I got a 1020 Commercial. It is in what appears to be pristine condition. It is either the best rework I have ever seen or in factory new condition. What gives me pause it that the grips look like new and have the correct profile, but no numbers. It has all matching numbers including an unnumbered mag, as would be correct. When I took it down I found the toggle links and firing pin to be unnumbered. According to the SBOL these should be numbered. I was wondering what some of you might think of it. I will attach as many pictures as I can once I figure out how to do it.

1920 Commercial # 2034n Marked Germany Upright Crown N on left side.

Thanks

Lynn,
The firing pins and grips aren't usually numbered on commercials. The forward toggle link is usually numbered underneath, although I have seen some that aren't on the DWM Alphabet commercials (formerly known as 1920 Commercial). SCOL by Aaron Davis has been found to have a lot of mistakes.
Looks like a refinish to me. It might just be the pictures, but it looks like it has some pitting with blue in them and there is no halo around the serial numbers. The forward toggle pin should be fire blued, not strawed. Also the small pin that goes through the top of the left toggle knob should be in the white.

I think you are right. It is a very nice rework. when I look at the forward toggle under magnification, it appears that a number 42 was removed. You can see this if you look closely at the picture of the left side.

You are right, there are no halos.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Interesting to say, "picked up another 3 lugers"....

And what is a SBOL?

Ahhh, I see from the 2nd posting that they figured out it was Davis' book. I am familiar with folks using TRL by Still, as its been around a long time, but Aarons book is a bit newer, but I'm afraid some old information.
